Today a jury convicted Josue Barragan-Lugo of 7 counts of Criminal Sexual Penetration of a child under 13, 1 count of criminal sexual contact of a child under the age of 13, and 1 count of intimidation of a witness.
Barragan-Lugo was dating the victim’s cousin when the child was repeatedly sexually assaulted. The boy moved in with his grandmother and disclosed the abuse.
When police began investigating, Barragan-Lugo fled to Mexico for a decade.
He was brought to justice and found guilty of the crime September 29, 2023.
“It doesn’t matter how old a case is, our prosecutors are relentless in seeking and getting justice for victims,” said Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman.
