Major Crimes
The Major Crimes division specializes in serious violent felonies, including homicides, kidnapping, armed robbery, gun crimes, and many others in Bernalillo County. Within the Major Crimes division is our office's Special Victims Unit (SVU). This unit implements a trauma-informed approach to prosecuting crimes against children involving physical abuse, sexual abuse, and homicide and all adult sex crime cases. Altogether, the Major Crimes Division works on some of the most complex, time-consuming cases in the county.
Bringing Justice To Our Community
In 2020, Sonia was shot multiple times, including in her right eye, shoulder, and arms. She miraculously survived. The Major Crimes Division worked on this case and convicted multiple people involved in the crime.
