Bill Richardson was not only a leader, but an amazing friend. My wife Jackie and I were shocked and saddened to hear of his passing this morning.

He was a great humanitarian who did so much for the state of New Mexico, for this country and people throughout the world. Just last week, he was nominated for another Nobel Peace Prize for his work as a global crisis negotiator. Bill Richardson was a lifelong public servant.

He never stopped working. He was full of energy, wit and humor.

On a personal note, I will miss his friendship. We frequently traveled together to baseball games to watch the Houston Astros take on the Red Sox. There was plenty of banter and laughter on those trips.

Those are great memories Jackie and I will treasure forever.

You will be missed my friend.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Barbara and the rest of his family, and I hope they can find comfort in the profound positive impact Bill had on countless lives. May his journey ahead be serene, and may he rest in eternal peace.
