Man Found Guilty of First-Degree Murder, Multiple Other Crimes During Attempted Robbery

Today a jury found Adam Cazares guilty of First Degree Murder, Felony Murder, Attempted Armed Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. In July 2019, he shot and killed Calvin Kelly with a hunting rifle during an attempted armed robbery.
Kelly was murdered in the parking lot of an ABQ apartment complex while trying to get away from Cazares. Kelly’s body was found the next morning in the street.
Cazares faces life in prison. Sentencing will take place in about 30 days.
“We are so thankful a jury found this very violent man guilty of multiple crimes, including First-Degree Murder. He will now be behind bars, and can’t hurt anyone else in the community,” said Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman.
“Our prosecutors work tirelessly to bring justice to family members who have lost loved ones to violent crimes,” Bregman said.
