Former Teacher Convicted of Raping 7-Year-Old Student
Today a jury convicted Daniel Aldaz of two counts of criminal sexual penetration of a child under 13, and 2 counts of criminal sexual contact.
In 2018 and 2019, he raped a seven-year-old little girl, one of his students. The crimes happened inside his classroom, where he taught second grade in Albuquerque.
Sentencing will take place at a later date. He faces more than 50 years in prison.
“I’m so proud of our Special Victim’s Unit, who prosecuted Aldaz. I look forward to this man spending a long time in prison,” said Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman.
