Employees of Home Depot in Albuquerque met with Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman today. Workers, including Theft Prevention staff, are meeting with prosecutors to help build effective cases involving people who repeatedly shoplift.

DA Bregman has made multiple changes when it comes to prosecuting shoplifting, including combining misdemeanor shoplifting cases and charging them as felonies, and assigning additional attorneys to prosecute cases.

“Residents of Bernalillo County have made it clear, they have had enough,” Bregman said. “People should be able to go into the store without being afraid, ” he said.
