On October 21, 2013, the victim, who was homeless at the time, met Mendoza and his friend while she was out on the streets of ABQ. The victim was violently raped. Investigators linked Mendoza’s DNA to her sexual assault. There were two bite marks on the victim’s back that were so severe they left permanent scars.
