TEEN CONVICTED OF FIRST-DEGREE MURDER WILL SPEND NEARLY 4 DECADES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.
Today a judge sentenced 17-year-old Michael Salinas as an adult. Salinas was sentenced to 54 years with the judge suspending 16 of them. Salinas will serve 38 years of incarceration.

Last May, a jury convicted the teen of multiple crimes including First Degree Murder, Shooting At or From a Motor Vehicle and Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

BACKGROUND:
In February 2022, two groups of teens were in a series of fights that escalated into a shooting at Westgate Community Park.
There were four victims in the shooting: Vincent Le was murdered and three teens were injured.

Today, Adrian Sanchez was found guilty by jurors of Voluntary Manslaughter, Armed Robbery, and two counts of Tampering with Evidence. He faces up to 39 years at sentencing. Sanchez killed Jesus Lopez on May 5, 2022. Sanchez has another pending homicide case set for trial in June of this year. ... See MoreSee Less

Thursday evening, Agents arrested Xialin Everage near Kathryn & Ortiz Dr SE. Court records show he had multiple outstanding Felony warrants on charges including trafficking a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, Shoplifting and possession of a controlled substance. Everage also received an additional charge of resisting and evading during his most recent arrest.

TEEN CHARGED WITH CARJACKING WOMAN, LEADING POLICE ON CHASE - WILL REMAIN IN CUSTODY.

The 17-year-old charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and a minor in possession of a handgun will remain in custody as his case goes through the judicial process.
Police say earlier this week the teen carjacked a woman at gunpoint leading police on a chase that left a pedestrian injured. The state intends to charge the teen as an adult for these crimes.
